CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Center will be open on Saturday, December 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to support the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Holiday Parade and festivities on Franklin Street.
The parade runs from 10 a.m. to noon, beginning at the Morehead Planetarium & Science Center, running along East and West Franklin Street and West and East Main Street in Carrboro, ending at the Town Hall & Commons. Read the rest of this entry »
DURHAM, N.C. – Tonight, over 850 mature adults and special guests will attend the 37th Annual Senior Holiday Party sponsored by Durham Parks and Recreation. The celebration will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center, 3700 Emperor Boulevard in Durham.
The Senior Holiday Party has been an annual event of Durham Parks and Recreation since 1971, and is the favored activity for Durham’s mature adults ages 55 or better. The festivities include a meal, performances by the 2nd Time Arounders, Durham Senior Divas and Dude (Senior Games Cheerleaders), and the Liquid Pleasure Band. At the conclusion of the program, every participant will receive a special holiday gift.

According to a press release, White’s Tires will once again bring Christmas cheer by sharing their Christmas light display and benefitting three local non-profits at the same time. For more than 20 years the White family has shared their elaborate Christmas display with the public in return for donations to local charities. Imagination Station Science Museum, WilMed Hospice, and Greenfield School all benefit from the $10 per car donation. All proceeds are split evenly between the three non-profit groups.

According to a press release, Santa and Mrs. Claus will make their annual visit to the Hillsborough Police Department on Dec. 18.
Seriously, how many of you truly know the words to Auld Lang Syne by Robert Burns? Every New Year’s Eve when the clock strikes midnight, I look around to see who is really singing Auld Lang Syne. I won’t lie, I have never known the words. I ususally would just move my mouth so it looked like I knew the words.
