According to a press release, White’s Tires will once again bring Christmas cheer by sharing their Christmas light display and benefitting three local non-profits at the same time.  For more than 20 years the White family has shared their elaborate Christmas display with the public in return for donations to local charities.  Imagination Station Science Museum, WilMed Hospice, and Greenfield School all benefit from the $10 per car donation.  All proceeds are split evenly between the three non-profit groups.

The light display includes three giant 30 foot tall inflatable figures, including Santa Claus, Frosty the Snowman, and a Candy Cane.  In addition, Santa Claus is there nightly for kids to tell all their Christmas wishes.  Santa sits on a dock overlooking a small lake in the middle of the drive through light display.  Families can park their car and take their children down to the dock to see Santa.  On most nights, the cars driving through have the special opportunity to hear the conversations Santa is having with the children over an AM radio station.

“Greenfield School is so fortunate to again be involved as a part of the White’s Lights tradition,” said Diane Hamilton with Greenfield School.  “So many of the current and past Greenfield families and students have very special memories of their nights volunteering at the gate or with Santa and everyone mentions it would not be the same holiday without time spent at Mr. and Mrs. White’s dazzling display.  We are grateful to Mr. and Mrs. White for their continued generosity and support of Greenfield School.”

“We are very thankful to the White’s for hosting this event each year,” said Jonathan Brooks, Director of Imagination Station Science Museum.  “Last year was our first year to be a part of this event.  It was a big help to our fundraising efforts.  People really need to come see the display Mr. White puts together each year.  It’s really incredible.”

“We are hoping that White’s Lights 2008 will be the best ever.  We know that 2008 has been a difficult year for a lot of people and we want to do what we can to get them in the Christmas spirit,” said Bobby White, Vice President of White’s Tire.  “It’s a great fundraiser for three fantastic organizations.  We anticipate this to be our best year yet.”

The event is located at 1106 Forest Hills Rd. Wilson NC and runs from Saturday, December 13th to Wednesday, December 24th, with Santa Claus appearing nightly.  Of course, he won’t be there on Christmas Eve because he will be busy with other things.  The gates open at 6pm and close at 10 pm.  The cost is $10 per car with all proceeds going to the nonprofit groups.
