Although North Carolina’s “The Peanut Roaster” has five retail locations, it seems their online business still accounts for a large share of their overall sales.

Cathy Short, Director for Retail Sales, said Monday more people are clicking on their purchases than plucking them from the shelves. Watch Full Video, click here.

“I just talked to our online store who said the Internet is really getting a lot of hits right now,” she said.

Short said about 250 orders per day “are typical” for this time of year.

“Right now, we’re really going strong and it looks like this year’s sales may exceed last year’s sales for Cyber Monday,” Short said. “We actually started getting orders yesterday … as people got a head start on everything.”

The Monday after Thanksgiving, is commonly known as “Cyber Monday,” according to a news release from ComScore, a Virginia-based group that measures the “digital world.” Cyber Monday is the first working day following Thanksgiving Day, and “purchases from work still account for approximately half of all e-commerce spending.”

ComScore reported that e-commerce this holiday season had increased by about 2 percent.

“Early reports suggest that Black Friday in retail stores were slightly better than anticipated in this depressed retail climate and that performance apparently extended to the online channel,” said ComScore Chairman Gian Fulgoni.

Consumer spending overall is up 7.2 percent from last year, according to a survey conducted by the National Retail Association.
