The one thing Triangle residents can rely on for holiday spirit is that local radio station that plays holiday tunes 24/7.  But if you’re looking for things to do with family and friends, the Triangle has several events to offer.  Whether you are looking for plays, parades or simple tree lightings, the Triangle seems to have it all.  So check out what’s happening this holiday season in your community.

December Holiday Events

Dec. 5: Lighting of Wake Forest takes place in downtown Wake Forest and is free to the public.

Dec. 5: Knightdale Tree Lighting Celebration and Santa’s Magical Workshop will take place in downtown Knightdale at the Caboose on First Avenue.  The event will begin at 6 p.m.

Dec. 5-7: Christmas on Salem Street begins at 5 p.m. Dec. 5 in downtown Apex.  The event is $5 per person.

Dec. 5: Wendell will host its Lighting of the Wendell Town Square in downtown Wendell on N. Main Street at 10 a.m.

Dec. 5: The Town of Garner and the Mayor will host its annual Garner Community Tree Lighting on Dec. 5.  Admission is free.

Dec. 6: Knightdale Christmas Parade 2008 will take place at 2 p.m. in downtown Knightdale.  This event is free.

Dec. 6: The 51st Annual Jaycees Apex Christmas Parade will take place in downtown Apex.  The parade will begin at 5 p.m.

Dec. 6: Garner Christmas Parade will take place on Main Street in downtown Garner. There will be area marching bands, floats, emergency vehicles, local merchants, and of course Santa Claus.

Dec. 7: Fuquay-Varina Holiday Parade will take place at 121 North Main Street.  The event begins at 3 p.m.

Dec. 7: Rolesville Christmas Parade 2008 is set of Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m.  The event is free.

Dec. 7: Zebulon Christmas Parade at the Zebulon Parks and Recreation Department.

Dec.10: Capitol Tree Lighting Ceremony and Holiday Festival 2008 at the North Carolina State Capitol.

Dec. 13-14: 2008 Historic Oakwood Candlelight Tour in Historic Oakwood in Raleigh.
Dec.13: Wake Forest Christmas Parade in downtown Wake Forest.

Dec. 13: Cary’s Jaycee Christmas Parade in downtown Cary.

Dec.13: Happy Holly Days 14th Annual Christmas Parade in downtown Holly Springs.

Dec. 27: 14th Annual Cary Kwanzaa at the Herbert C. Young Community Center.

Dec. 31- Jan. 1: First Light Wake Forest in downtown Wake Forest.

Dec. 31: 18th Annual First Night Raleigh 2009 in downtown Raleigh.
