The holidays are an exciting time, and for Meredith College students this season also provides an opportunity to show off their design and artistic talents on North Hills’ first-ever Santa House. Starting Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 2:30 p.m. in the space next to the new Sleep to Live store and Mura restaurant at North Hills, these student designers and their instructor at Meredith College will put the final design, construction and painting touches on the gingerbread cottage that is a key element of North Hills’ old-time Christmas celebrations.

Raleigh-based Benjamin Construction led efforts in building the 96-square foot house. When completed, the Santa House will be based at The Commons, which is the area located near Starbucks, in the center of the North Hills community. The Commons will transform into an old-fashioned “Town Square” during the holidays - complete with a holiday decorating greens market, choir performances to benefit local charities, hospitality stations, and more. The Commons is also a gathering place for family and friends in between their holiday shopping. Santa will “live” at the house and will be available for photographs and well wishes, every Saturday, starting Saturday, Nov. 29.
